MAKASSAR – The Faculty of Public Health, Hasanuddin University (FKM Unhas), has taken a proactive step toward the 2026 fiscal year by organizing a Pre-Working Meeting (Pre-Raker) Workshop. This strategic gathering was held as part of the institution’s commitment to aligning the faculty’s Strategic Plan (Renstra) with university-wide targets, ensuring that the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI/IKU) remains on a progressive and measurable track.
The event, held at the Unhas Hotel and Convention, serves as a crucial momentum for the entire leadership and academic community of FKM Unhas. The Dean of FKM Unhas, Prof. Sukri Palutturi, SKM, M.Kes., MSc.PH, PhD, emphasized that thorough preparation through the Pre-Raker is key to navigating the increasingly dynamic challenges of higher education. According to him, the synchronization of work programs is not merely an administrative routine but a firm effort to sharpen the faculty’s strategic direction in producing globally competitive public health professionals.
Transforming Performance Indicators: Quality Over Quantity
A primary focus of this workshop was the structural shift in the 2026 Key Performance Indicators (IKU). Although the number of indicator points has quantitatively decreased from 52 to 44, the achievement standards have been significantly raised. This shift demands that FKM Unhas works smarter and more collaboratively.
Prof. Sukri Palutturi explained that these elevated standards reflect the university’s higher expectations for academic output quality. Therefore, internal consolidation is vital to ensure that every unit within FKM Unhas shares the same vision regarding the targets to be achieved. The faculty’s current focus is to ensure performance management is transparent, accountable, and data-driven.
Targeting Global Reputation through Publication and Collaboration
In its pursuit of enhancing global rankings, FKM Unhas has set ambitious targets for research and scientific publication. For 2026, the faculty aims to publish at least 140 scientific articles in reputable international journals indexed by Scopus or Web of Science. Specifically, FKM Unhas is targeting a publication percentage in Q1 and Top Tier journals of 27.92 percent.
This strategy aims not only to boost statistics but also to strengthen FKM Unhas’s position on the global public health science map. To support this, international collaboration schemes will be expanded. Programs such as joint publications, visiting lecturers, and student mobility (both inbound and outbound) are projected to reach 24.20 percent. This strengthening of international networks is expected to bolster the faculty’s academic and employer reputation worldwide.
Strategic Alignment and Contribution to SDGs
The formulation of work programs in this Pre-Raker also refers to the Unhas Strategic Plan (Renstra) 2025-2029. The synchronization between the Strategic Plans of Study Programs, the Faculty, and the University serves as the foundation for the institution’s synchronized movement. With a vision toward international-standard academic excellence, FKM Unhas ensures that every teaching, research, and community service activity has a real and sustainable impact.
In a global context, all health development strategies initiated by FKM Unhas are closely linked to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically regarding SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, FKM Unhas acts as a driving force in creating innovative health policies and public education. By improving the quality of research and graduates, the faculty contributes directly to reducing morbidity rates, increasing health access, and strengthening the national health resilience system in line with the 2030 SDG targets.
Towards Modern and Accountable Governance
The Vice Dean for Planning and Resources, Prof. Dr. Atjo Wahyu, SKM., M.Kes., added that the success of IKU achievement highly depends on modern governance. This workshop also provided a space to evaluate the effectiveness of resource utilization, ensuring that every budget allocation correlates directly with performance achievements.
With a spirit of togetherness, FKM Unhas is optimistic that the targets set for 2026 can be achieved or even surpassed. Consistency in providing governance assistance for health programs, particularly in Eastern Indonesia, will continue to be the identity of FKM Unhas as an institution that provides a real contribution to the nation.
Through the strategic steps formulated in this Pre-Raker, the Faculty of Public Health, Hasanuddin University, is ready to transform into a center of excellence in public health that is recognized not only nationally but also globally.
