A total of 18 students from the Master’s Program in Public Health Science participated in the Joint International Tropical Medicine Meeting (JITMM) 2025. The event was held over three days, from December 2 to 4, 2025, at the Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai, Bangkok, Thailand. The student delegation was accompanied by the Head of the Master’s Program in Public Health Science, Prof. Dr. Ridwan A, SKM., M.Kes., M.Sc.PH..

This international conference brought together academics, researchers, and public health practitioners from various countries to share research, scientific innovations, and global strategies for handling tropical diseases.

Daily Activity Highlights

  1. Day One: The day began with registration and an Opening Ceremony, followed by a Keynote Address from international expert panels on the development of tropical disease research. The event continued with symposium sessions on topics such as tropical diseases diagnostics and innovations, genomic technologies for tropical diseases, and scientific poster presentations from conference participants. The evening concluded with a Welcome Reception for networking among attendees.
  2. Day Two: Participants attended panel discussions related to strategies for contagious disease control, technology-based health surveillance innovation, trends in vaccine research, and scientific discussions on zoonotic diseases and vector-borne infections. There was also a poster flash talk session showcasing the latest research findings from international delegates.
  3. Day Three: The final day of the conference covered strategic topics concerning bridging research and public health for emerging diseases, advancing immunology, and tropical medicine advancements in Southeast Asia. The event was concluded with a Closing Ceremony and a Keynote Speech titled “Unraveling the Complexity of Malaria Using Data-Driven Biology Approaches” delivered by a tropical research expert from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Benefits and Expectations

Through their participation in JITMM 2025, the Master’s Public Health students gained the opportunity to broaden their scientific knowledge, strengthen international collaborative networks, and understand research ideas as a contribution to the development of public health science. This experience is expected to support the improvement of academic quality, research, and public health implementation in Indonesia.
