The foundation of WEC on January 4, 2024, was driven by the outstanding achievements of FKM Unhas students in the field of English. Recognizing the need for a community that can bridge the gap between academic knowledge and global communication, WEC was established to ensure that every student is equipped with the linguistic tools necessary for the modern professional world.+2

Their goal is to create a platform that shapes globally competitive students who are not only linguistically capable but also sensitive to health and social issues. To achieve this, WEC has outlined several missions, including building members’ confidence, providing international exposure, and establishing a sustainable organizational structure.+3
WEC and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The activities and objectives of the Winslow English Club are closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, WEC supports SDG 4: Quality Education by providing students with inclusive access to language development programs that are essential for lifelong learning and professional success.
Furthermore, by integrating English education with health awareness, WEC acts as an agent of community service, contributing to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. Through this integration, members are trained to communicate vital health information to a broader, international audience, thereby increasing the impact of public health advocacy beyond local borders.
Conclusion: Paving the Way for International Standards
The existence of WEC is a testament to the Faculty of Public Health’s commitment to fostering a campus environment that meets international standards. By encouraging students to master English, FKM Unhas is building a generation of leaders ready to compete and collaborate on the global stage.
